Mr Peter K F Addison MA MB BChir MD FRCOphth
About / Career History

Mr Addison was born and raised in London. He excelled at Haberdashers' Aske's Boys School before studying Medicine at St John's College, Cambridge University where he obtained a first class degree.

Mr Addison completed his Basic Ophthalmic Specialist training on the Cambridge Senior House Officer Rotation, followed by Higher Surgical training on the North Thames Deanery Rotation, including two years at
Moorfields Eye Hospital. Before completing his Higher Surgical training, Mr Addison undertook two years of full time research, earning an MD (Medical Doctorate) for his research into the genetics of inherited cataract at
The UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.

Mr Addison's training culminated in a two-year Medical Retina and Uveitis Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital working under world renowned Consultants including Mr Philip Hykin and Mr Carlos Pavesio. During this time, he gained extensive experience in the management of all Medical Retina and Uveitis disorders and developed particular expertise in managing patients with these conditions in and around cataract surgery.

Following his subspecialty training, Mr Addison was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He undertakes clinical work at Moorfields City Road, Moorfields at Ealing and at
St Thomas' Hospital, where he coordinates investigations and therapies on Moorfields patients who require in-patient admission. He is also Clinical Lead for the Moorfields Retinal Vein Occlusion service and Clinical Audit Lead for the Moorfields Medical Retina Service. Mr Addison is actively involved in weekly teaching sessions at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He also teaches and lectures at major regional and international meetings. As a clinical lecturer at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, he lectures annualy on the Retina module of the MSc Ophthalology course. In 2015 he received the highest possible scores in feedback from the students.
